This waterfall is so dramatic, you probably never seen one like this before. It’s not too big, the stream is relatively small compared to other waterfalls in Bali. The location, though, is exceptional. You can’t find a better location to put a waterfall than this. Anyway, here are some of the things that you need to know about Guyangan Waterfall.

The waterfall is located on the southern coast of Nusa Penida. Administratively, it is located at Banjar Guyangan, Batu Kandik Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency. If you are visiting from mainland Bali, you can come to Banjar Nyuh Port from Sanur or Padang Bai. From there, you will need an overland trip to the southern coast that will probably take an hour or so.

How to get there

Getting to the parking lot of the waterfall is relatively easy, especially if you come riding a scooter or car. Getting to the actual waterfall is the main challenge here. You will need good stamina and lots of courage to reach this waterfall.

When you reach the cliff, you’ll find a blue wooden and iron stair attached to the cliff. If you are afraid of height, you might not want to venture further. You will climb down that stair and several other natural flights of stairs until you reach the waterfall. The view is wonderful though, so that might be able to distract yourself from the perilous journey you are doing.

Your ultimate destination is actually a natural freshwater spring, located on a cliff directly above the sea. It’s a bit hard to comprehend without being there yourself, but you get the point. There is a temple built nearby because the spring is considered sacred by locals. This spring also supply waters to local communities, using an electrical pump to get the water to people’s houses.

The water from the spring then accumulates and created a small infinity pool on the cliff. It’s a small pool but you will have the most amazing view of Indiana Ocean in the entire world. The water is so fresh, it is perfect for refreshing your body after such a journey.

This waterfall is only for those who have enough stamina and guts. You will have to go through rather scary flights of stairs to reach this place. Remember to reserve your energy because after enjoying the waterfall and its pool, you still have to climb the stairs up. There is no food stall here so make sure you bring your own drink, at least.
