If you go to the opposite direction from Bandung, you will find Lembang, a famous mountainous getaway. Lembang has been a famous getaway since long ago, during the colonial era.
After the Bandung and Batavia was connected via railway in 1880, the industry in this city bloomed and more European came to this city for its pleasant climate. They then explore the surrounding area and loved the natural setting even more. Lembang is especially popular because of their vantage position. Today, Lembang has grown into a great resort area.
Tangkuban Perahu Craters
It is said that Mount Tangkuban Perahu came into being when Sangkuriang kicked a big boat and it turns into a mountain. There are three craters on Tangkuban Perahu; Kawah ratu, Kawah Tangkuban Perahu, and Kawah Upas. You need to light hike a little to reach any of them.

Like the name suggests, Mini Town is a miniature of European town. This town has its own police station, cafes, baby care, and many more. All crews here are also wearing European traditional costume, and they will be happy to pose for a picture with you. For a more comprehensive experience, you can even rent a costume here and then take your picture in front of various buildings in this town.
The cashless floating market of Lembang
Meanwhile, the floating market of Lembang is not a traditional floating market like in Lok Baintan or Barito. This is an ‘artificial’ market where you can buy food and beverages from vendors who are on a boat in a pond. The merchants here do not accept cash or cards as payment. To buy the items, you will need to buy coins first that will in turn become the payment method.
Family friendly cowboys at De’Ranch
De’Ranch was an equestrian ranch before then being developed into a family friendly tourist destination. The concept is actually very simple; this ranch provide a ranching experience like cowboys in the western coast of America. You can ride a horse, milk a cow, learn about ranching, and many more. The facilities and amenities are growing each year and this ranch is a great educational destination for all members of the family.

You can come here during the day or night, but you can only see how the Zeiss telescope works but not peeking the stars with it. If you visit during the night schedule, you can stargaze with portable telescopes and sometimes also Bamberg telescope.
Gunung Putri vantage point
Gunung Putri is a hill in Lembang with great camping site on top of it. The hiking trek on this hill can be challenging with steep slopes, but generally speaking, getting to the peak should not be overly problematic. On Gunung Putri, you can see the breathtaking sunrise, or the view of Lembang and even Bandung at night. There are several camping spots with remarkable views.
All in all, Lembang is truly a gem with wonderful natural setting. But it is the creativity of the people that takes Lembang to the next level in term of tourism. Lembang is truly the perfect getaway destination from big city’s routines.
