Taman Mini Indonesia Indah

This park is trying to give you the miniature of Indonesia in one place. The name itself literally means ‘Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park’. Located on East Jakarta, it is indeed the synopsis of Indonesian culture from every province. You can find many traditional houses from each region in Indonesia as well as its clothing, dances, and traditions. As a theme park, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah also has several interesting rides.

Kota Tua

Literally means ‘Old City’, this is the original downtown area of Jakarta (or Batavia as it was known back then). There are many Dutch-styles buildings and structures in this area, most of them were built during the 17th century. It is quite a large place and the most popular place is the Fatahhilah Museum, especially its large front yard. Furthermore, this is where youngsters usually gather in the afternoon.

Ragunan Zoo

The name explains it all really. This is a 140-hectare zoo located in Ragunan, South Jakarta. The setting is a lush tropical forest in the city. It has more than three thousands of animal specimens, including aviary and primate center. Ragunan Zoo is 150 years old, making it one of the oldest and largest in the world. The zoo is usually closed every Monday, except during holidays.

Located between Kota Tua and Tanjung Priok Port, Ancol has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. Also, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, the largest tourist area in South East Asia is on this coast. There are so many things you can do in Ancol. For families, they usually just enjoy the beach and relax during the holiday.

Dunia Fantasi

The literal translation would simply be ‘the Fantasy World’. In particular, it is a theme park which was built in the middle of the 80s. Located in Ancol Coast, this is part of the integrated tourism area here. Furthermore, dunia Fantasi is popular for its mascot, the proboscis monkey. You can expect most of the interesting rides that you can usually find in any big theme park.

Monas Area

Monumen Nasional (National Monument) is THE landmark of Jakarta. Additionally, this monument adorn an actual gold fire sculpture on top of it. In fact, this is not merely Jakarta’s monument, it is the national monument to commemorate the nation’s fight for independence. The Monas area is very popular among people, even during normal days.
