When people talk about Gili on Lombok, the first thing that comes to mind is the three famous Gilis in the northwest; Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air. Those three small islands are indeed very beautiful and stunning, but Lombok also has many other beautiful islands.
One example of the increasingly popular island is Gili Nanggu, located in the southwest of Lombok. This island is part of a small archipelago located in Sekotong. Here are some facts about Gili Nanggu.
Location
This small island is located in the district of Sekotong, West Lombok Regency. To reach this island, you can rent a boat from two places in Lombok; Lembar Harbor and West Sekotong Port. From Lembar Harbor, you may need around 40 minutes to get to Gili Nanggu. Meanwhile, from the West Sekotong Port, Gili Nanggu can be reached in only about 15 minutes.
There are many boats that you can rent or charter to Gili Nanggu. There is no fixed price so your negotiating ability will be very useful here. Normally, the round trip from West Sekotong to Gili Nanggu will cost you about Rp300,000. One boat can accommodate 4 to 6 passengers.
Not fully developed yet
Gili Nanggu presents a completely different atmosphere compared to Gili Trawangan. Here, you won’t find residents’ houses or gleaming resorts. There isn’t much going on here, and if you are a party animal, this island will look like nothing at all. But if you like the beach and unspoiled nature, this island is paradise. You might feel that this island is yours alone.
There is only one accommodation that can be found on the entire island; Gili Nanggu Cottages & Resort which has seafront bungalows. If you visit this island, not during the holiday season, there is a possibility that you will be the only guest on this island. If you want to relax on a stretch of white sand and calm sea, Gili Nanggu is the most suitable destination for you.
Activities
Here, instead of world-class amenities, you will have a totally pristine and protected island ecosystem. The waters here are very calm so it is safe for you to swim. Around the beach there are also many trees so you don’t need to worry about finding shades after you are satisfied playing water.
You can also snorkel and feed fish that live on the coral reefs around the island. Food for fish can only be bought in the cottage for only IDR 5,000. Always be careful not to step on coral reefs and catch fish here. Make sure you also dispose of garbage in its place so that the waters of Gili Nanggu are kept clean.
Small islands nearby
There are three small islands around Gili Nanggu. If you want to do island hopping, the distance you travel will not be too far away. You will be able to see the other islands with enough clear from the shore of Gili Nanggu. You can visit Gili Sudak, Gili Tangkong, or Gili Kedis. All the islands offer pristine beauty.
